I think the powerstrke is under rated and the cummins is over rated but what do you think you would want in your rig?

well i have a powerstroke and it has been the best truck to me. i pull an 11,000 pound trailer with it, most of the time to the same place which is up a 13% grade for 22 miles. i have a dead stock truck which i run delo 400 oil. it pulls my lead sled trailer up the hill in third gear at 48 miles per hour the whole way. granite i do have a manual transmission which i would say is the only way to go because automatics can tow for crap. why do you think that big rigs have manuals

I've owned two pickups with the 6-speedHO cummins and loved 'em. All my buddies that bought Powerstrokes had 'em in the shop often and terrible gas mileage in comparison.

I guess a Cummins...aren't powerstrokes failing a lot?

Unfortunately. I hate to talk crap on Ford's anything. It's like slappin' my mama. But...Cummins are just impressive. They pull like a hoss and deliver exceptional gas mileage stock. A little tweakin' and they're even better. I get 23mpg in my manual 6-speed HO (even when my wife's drivin'!). Hey 'Toyota4By", what year Powerstroke are you drivin'?
