I have an '89 F-150 with a 5.8L. I sat for a year or so and won't start. There is power to the fuel pump (40lbs pressure) and spark. It will fire with starter fluid but won't start. I don't think the injectors are working. Thjere doesn't seem to be any fuel getting into the cylinders. (plugs smell like started fluid but never gas) I drained the gas out of the tank and added new but still not starting.

Someone suggested buying a new computer. I will but I'd like to try another solution before sinking $100.00 dollars with no real proof that it's the computer.

Any suggestions?

89 has multi port FI correct? If fuel makes it to the schreder valve where you checked the fuel psi that tells me that either the injectors aren't firing (possible fuse... yes there is an injector fuse). I wouldn't blame the comp just yet

I have the same problem with an '85 F150 302V8 FI. Could you let me know where the fuel injector fuse is located in the engine?

Most autoparts stores will help you out with locating where the part goes. The guys down town here will pull out a Haynes manual and show ya. Part of that is the potential sale of the manual, but it's still a nice gesture regardless. If it takes buying a set of fuses (which it might not even be a normal/buss fuse anyways), then I think it's worth it.
