I am looking into getting one cause it seems to be just what I need.

1996 Chevy S-10 Extended Cab (http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_id=217150360&dealer_id=171430&car_year =1996&num_records=25&search_type=used&keywordsfyc= &make=&transmission=&distance=100&address=60048&on ly_price=1&advanced=y&certified=&default_sort=pric eASC&ref=srl&ref=srl&max_mileage=&max_price=5000&s ort_type=mileageASC&min_price=&only_photo=1&body_c ode=32&end_year=2008&color=&keywordsrep=&isDWSI=fa lse&start_year=1981&drive=4+wheel+drive&engine=&bo dy_style=TRUCKS&doors=&style_flag=2&fuel=&cardist= 28)

I am just wondering if you guys have encountered any problems with your S-10s, because I want this truck to last a while. Anything I can do do prevent problems down the road?

Thanks
-Lightning

i had a 96 ext cab s10 with the 4.3 with over 100,000 on it and the only problems i had in over 50,000 miles were the alternator, a/c, and transmission, none of which had been replaced in the original 100,000 miles before i had it

Make sure it's been well taken care of, make sure everything works, 4.3 will last forever and if its 5 spd you can run a lot easier on gas, S10's are tanks they'll last you a while as long as you treat it right

My 99 2.2L auto was bought at 26,000miles, now at 126,000miles I have had to replace the alternator(not long after I got it) and the trans filter. In 2 months she will finally be ALL mine and that 350 upgrade will be next, though not necessary. The 4 banger is already sold to another die hard chevy guy that has 325,000 miles on his S-10, with no major work being done to his truck either.
