I am looking at2007 Colorado crew cabs and wonder if some of you who have these trucks can give me some idead about whether or not it's worth it to buy the 4x4. I live in Iowa and commute about 40 miles to work. From time to time I will have my young kids with me. The Z71 looks SO cool but rides a bit rough and costs about $5000 more.
Thanks for your help.

All I can say is...be sure you NEED a 4x4..the added cost plus lesser mpg for nothing could be tuff

How do I know what I NEED 4x4 for. For me I plan to stay on-road by am worried about snow and ice on roads. Is it enough to put some weight in the bed - so that I can get around in the snow?

iowan myself here. i think you'd feel silly for not gettin 4wd when you take 10 minutes to get out of an icy parking lot, or cant make it up a snow packed hill in town. if you dont opt for the 4wd, atleast dont get a one legger. but do ya NEED 4wd? do ya really NEED a truck? personally i WANTED a 4wd truck but i still commute ina fwd car.
not sure if you need one. I have a 2005 and have 60,000 miles and love it. I use the 4x4 to go snow boarding all the time.. a 4x4 is nice when you need.

Not that it matters, but all Z71s aren't 4X4. My 2006 Z71 has off road suspension but is 2 wheel drive. People think it's 4 wheel drive but it isn't. I love the looks of it though.

Not to be because everything you adore and give thanks for, is always taken away by the one you so call your friend.
