first time on this site, & hope someone can help!!!! am replacing timing gears on a1996 f150 4.0-300c.i. 6cyl. tried using a gear puller to remove cam gear, but as the d--n gear is is plastic or whatever, part of gear is on the ground & rest is still on end of the cam& i am lost as what to do now!!!! any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

The manual says to press it off,which involves removing the cam (Aghhh)///..can you whittle it down to just the metal collar,and split it with a chisel?..I've done that on some engines

that is about the only option left now. only problem is I can't remove the fan. large nut is siezed to the water pump, & would have to replace the whole unit, which I could do. am doing this for a friend, it's his work truck, & has limited funds, but you gotta do what you gotta do!!!

yeah,they make wrench kits for those fans that are powered by an air hammer....you may find 1 for rent
