Although it may produce a power increase in the older 350's, it is a waste of money on our 5.3's.
I say dont get it. ;)

Sorry tylerz71, but I disagree. While they did alot for the older 350 engines, they help on the 5.3 as well. It is one of the best mods for the price. I got better milage and better throttle response. I was really impressed and I was a sceptic. I figured $50 was worth the gamble, and would recommend it to anyone.

Since you have oe and I am just going by what I "heard", Ill definitely trust you on this.
Ive heard about them setting off codes and such...
but now I might even consider one.
What about the TB bypass? is it worth it?

The TB bypass gives a little better throttle response, but that is about all I noticed. I was concerned about this as well, but no ill effects after 1 year. If I was doing mods again, I would do throttle body bypass, spacer, then intake mod (maybe the K&N filer with the aftermarket straight tube since it is les expensive). Then either the predator programmer if you like to play with things or a custom tune. All this is less than $500 and the biggest gains.

not at all... remove a couple bolts, put it in, put a couple bolts back in... real simple, definitely more than worth the money

www.summitracing.com (http://www.summitracing.com) was $62 to my front door. Only took 2 days to get here but that's because I'm only 3-4 hours away from their warehouse in Montgomery, LOL!

Nobody mentioned about TBS and Cold air intake kits, or how its real difficult to have both, w/o cutting the shroud for your fan, and then it may not be conceivable, or am i being ill advised again? I was told with my K&N FIPK, where i already had to trim the fan shroud so the tube would fit, that i would not be able to install the TBS, unless i went with electric fans or something like that. Fill me in if i am wrong. Thanx, Jim

You are right that there is some interference unless you have electric fans, but youcan always trim the tube a little and make it work. You are only talking about 1/2 in or so.

According to a guy on Diablosport forum who races a few modified C6 Corvettes, the TB spacer has more impact on moving the powerband then it does increasing hp and torque. It will provide some gains but it mostly moves the powerband and torque curve to a differnt (often lower) rpm range, and in some cases increase the duration of the powerband. Different styles provide different results on this. He does note that without other significant mods and programming that the gains are minimal.

Chevyrules, i have a volant cai and when i put on my tbs i had to cut about and inch off my fan shroud because i dont have electric fans, then i had to make sure my cai tube was all the way onto the tbs so that it wouldnt hit my fan, it ended up all working but i have about 1/2 in. of space from my fan to my tube

I guess I was lucky when I bought my truck it already had K/N CAI and a spacer not sure what kind of spacer. I wonder if my MAF is stock.
