MajorSilva 05-28-2008, 05:41 PM Hey, I have a question which has not been answered so far, and clicking the link Steve provided was just shy of a complete waste of time. The stock 16" wheels that come on Silverados, they are 8" wide yes? If they are indeed 8" wide, and they handle a 265/75 tire, then is there any problems with the same rim being used with a 285/75? There's not a whole lot of outward difference between the tires, except the small difference in tread width....? I went to all the damn trouble of dismounting, cleaning, scraping, masking, painting, remounting.... I just wanted to reuse my stock wheels. I love 'em. hunt4game29 05-28-2008, 10:51 PM From what i have seen the stock rims are 7.5" wide and 285 75 r16s are 1 inchtaller and 0.8 inchwidder then 265 75 r16s. The same thing goes for the new 17" rims the stock tire size is 265 70 r 17 and 285 70 r17s fit fine on stock rims i ran it and know of tons of others that did and the same with 285 75 r16s you can run them of the stock 16x7.5 rims. Hope that helps:D MajorSilva 05-29-2008, 01:58 AM Thanks brother, that's all I needed to know. Dickson 08-02-2008, 06:59 PM I have the same question with a little extra, my truck has P265 70R17's on it right now. Can I put P255 70R17's on it and what effect will this have on my truck, towing as well as mileage. Thanks chefbutthead 11-16-2008, 02:44 PM I have 315/75/16's on my truck and it is only getting a mile or so per gallon drop in mileage. |
