I want a Toyota Tundra, but I only want one if they put a Diesel in it that will tow more than 20000lbs.

Is that too much to ask?

any input?

Doubt that Toyota is goingto offer anything like that, but since GM went to Isuzu to develope the Duramax ,anything is possible.
My guess is that the market (# of units sold) for that requirement is very small and not conducive to a lot of sales.

Gm owns Isuzu

It would appear that with all of the joint ventures GM has with Japanese companies that they do not havean irrational fear or hatred of that country.

I thought that gl and isuzu were joined, not owned. I did some research and toyota brought a dually tundra to the sema auto show with an 8.7 liter diesel engine

That might be a concept that never gets beyond that, but then some concept vehicles actually do make it to production. It would be interesting to learn if the engine is totally Toyota or if it was developed in conjunction with another company. With an engine that size it would certainly tow about anything you wanted to hook up to. Way beyond what I will ever need.
Where did you find the info ? I would like to read up on it.

Great thread! I also wonder if Diesel would be available on Tundra.
Thanks for the info.
