Hello, my father in law has a 2005 dakota with cloth seats that every so often creates a static spark that disables the vehicle, the dealership has towed it in 3 times over a period of 3 years and has not fixed it yet. Does anybody know what might be causing this malfunction? They use static guard spray on the seats and also have a static strip dragging the black top now but it still acts up.

i think i have a great resolution for yur problem, you should 1. try running a ground from yur seats to the body, or 2. get some seat covers that are not cloth but maybe sheep skin, or leather. the sheep skin ones look pretty good though you can get them at walmart.
