Default GMC 305 Engine Question

Hey guys,
I bought a parts truck a little while ago

(89 GMC 305 2wd) Found crap in the intake and it also went into the heads so i pulled the heads off, and noticed a bent pushrod. Im not to fimiliar with V8's but know enough to get me by. I also noticed the cylinders are pretty scored so im pretty sure im gonna scrap it, maybe. But what my question is what could cause that? Cam? Tolerance's? Piston hitin valves?

Just curious thats all .

Thanx

Probably sludged up from lack of oil changes.
