new to me 2014 Sierra 2500HD
Hi - I upgraded from an F150 to a 2014 GMC 2500 HD V8 Flex (with 90K at the time) this summer. I've had my share of electrical crap go wrong since the purchase, but I hear that is the way it goes with these! I have questions about some things I'd like to do on it myself to make it more "up to date".
Radio replacement with something that is Android Auto capable (wire or wireless doesn't matter)... I tried a "car-play module" but the mic wasn't good enough to overcome the truck and had radio interference... The truck's bluetooth mic is horrible so I don't use that, but instead an Amazon bluetooth car speaker thing that is better - but not ideal.
I've watched the videos and while it doesn't look particularly hard to do myself, does seem a pain! Especially with trying to keep the backup camera and steering wheel controls... Any tips/tricks purchase rec are appreciated!
I don't care if I keep OnStar (is it even usable?) but I would like to keep my steering controls and move or duplicate the camera view on the screen vs. my rearview mirror. I think I can do the camera part via this additional cord? https://infotainment.com/shop/interi...e-reroute-kit/
Keeping XM would be nice, but not a requirement.
Other items on my to-do:
1.Tow Mirrors - will I need to add a support bolt hole? I saw that mentioned on one model's site. Debating that vs. just getting the add-on tow mirror attachment.
2.I really don't like the green tinted instrument cluster/dash lighting... Is there any easy way to update that? Very hard to see in low light but still sunny enough to wear sunglasses time periods!
