01 Sierra Engine not starting *help!*
So here is what i have, its a 2001 gmc sierra single cab, 4.3 v-6 with 46k original miles on motor. My guess is the fuel pump went out but i just wanted to get anyone elses input before i do anything to it. Truck would used to start fine about a week ago, but now when i turn the key it would stay on for a split second then shut off, and it will continue to do this. It just won't stay on, I am positive that i have 1/2 tank of gas in it. Also what is really wierd to me is that the gas guage says it is on empty and the little information window on the left of the guages says low fuel. What can it be? Injectors, fuel pump? or anything else? Input really needed, and thanks ahead of time!

Dist caps can cause no-starts for sure on those...
As for the pump...your really shooting in the dark without a fuel pressure gauge to hook up.
However, you COULD try to start it with a shot of b-12 carb spray in the snorkel, and see if she runs off that.
My money is on that cap though...is it rainy today where you are?..moisture does em in.

I'm in San Diego, California. It was sitting outside for a while also, so that does add up. But the low fuel light and the gas guage saying i'm on emptyis still really bizzare to me? I'm going to check out the distributer cap first then, anything else i should look out for? Thanks Argon!

The fuel sending unit that tells how much gas is in the truck can cause the gage to read low fuel and what not. When i bought my 2000 chevy 1500 the sending unit was bad and when i would fill it up it would say full and then go low fuel back and forth. It did not make it not run so i never did anything about it. But i was told it was the sending unit on the fuel pump that tell the gauge how much fuel is in the tank. Hope this helps. Thanks

She had a hard time turing over, battery was dead. And still can't keep her turned on. Trying to get to dis cap and check it out. Also i dont' know if you guys can help me here but, also the truck is also on air bags and the compressor doesn't want to turn back on, i have the front end pop'd up and the rear is slamed because i ran out of air. Is the compressor shot?
