I have a 2004 Chevy 1500 that i have been off and on thinking about true duels. For anyone who has done true duels on this model how did you fit it? the two pipes are very close together after the last sensor. Do i have to get pipes bent and moved or can i just cut off that Y and fit two pipes over the ones there? Just looking for some feedback from someone who has done this before.

 

I heard true duals are not recommended as the 4.8 and 5.3 needs proper backpressure. Can be done with "X" pipe but will lose alot of lowend grunt. I have a 1 in 2 out catback system with a 50 series Flowmaster muffler straight out the back, on my '03 Silverado SB/EC, and it sounds awesome. I wanted something that when ya start er up, people would know she ain't stock exhaust, but i'd still be able to get an inspection sticker with it too. The muffler shop that bent the system and installed it guaranteed me i'd have no problems getting a sticker. It has 10" chrome tips also. $400.00 installed. I have the 4.8L engine, with K&N FIPK. I agree that duals decrease backpressure too much.

And I got my Magnaflow system for $280 and it sounds good, but not loud enough...

just expect a bit of low-end power loss.

 

Yea ive talked to smoke about all that and im prolly not gonna cause of the back pressure problem. Ive already got an exhaust on it but i was just curious how people have done it. For future reference if i ever have the money to play with it just to see how it would sound and perform. But thanks!
