'06 Intermediate steering shaft problems?
I have an '06 extended cab Z-71 with 11,000 miles on it and it seems I have the intermediatesteering shaft problem. When I'm in a slight turn, Ican hear a clunking sound and feel it in the steering wheel. It is exactly like my friend's '05 that he just had to get fixed. Did GM think they solved the problem on '06's? Do any of you have this problem on your '06's?

Yeah and the 2001's did it too.....I just had my 2nd one replaced after 68K miles....had the clunking and everything.
Also found that all 3 of my front diff bearings were shot.
Did you feel the clunk in the brake pedal too?

Go in to your dealer and tell them you want it replaced under warranty. GM is aware of the problem, thats why they keep upadting the shafts. I just had the second or third one put in my dads 2001 silverado with over 70,000 miles and it did not cost him a penny..

Yeah man The intermediate shafts on the Chevys have been a problem for a while. Theycan't seem to get ahold of the issue but i guess its better than having injector recalls from theFord f-250 6.4L....lol

they replaced mine under warranty....my extended warranty.........but beware...some warranty companies charge the replacement at .5 hours, and my stealership charged it at 1.5 hours...so I ate the difference. Crooks!![:@]

what we do here is honor the extended warranty companies price and the customer does not have to pay the difference. It's kind of like the adjusted rates that insurance companies pay at the hospital or when you have an auto insurance claim. They always get a better deal than the average person. Insurance is a rip-off!
