Ohhhh man friends don't let friends run 5.0L engines! You have to at least go with a 5.7 .... at least ... but wouldn't an LSX be cool in that truck I have a thing for modern powertrain in old vehicles ... makes them a million times more awesome.

Like I should talk ... my old truck had a 5.0L, my new one has a 5.0L vortec, and my Firebird has a 5.0L .... Maybe I'm just sick and tired of a heavy V8 engine that has an identical twin that puts out way more power.

Your right, I've owned my fare share of 305
I compare them to Dodges HEMI - They start out stout and strong but quickly drop off. But with the 5.0L it's the ticking
If I decide to keep this truck longer. It is being changed out.

Today I found a sweet deal on a doner truck for my 87 Chev 4x4 build.
The cab is solid and the box is in great shape.
Lots of other features are gonna work great for the build.
It even started up and idled. I'm not ashamed to say I got it for $450

Wow that's awesome! Now ... why don't you just use the new $450 truck for your build instead? Looks like it's already almost where you want it to be.

It would be a better resale value if it was a 4x4 and have fuel injection.
What these pics don't show is the frt fenders and driver's door is bad.
Thankfully I have new front fenders, inner wheel wells, and doors

Oh so the new truck is a 2wd ... okay. Does the new truck have a 350 engine?

No
It's got a carberated 305

The 1987 4x4 chassis has a 305 TBI

If I was gonna keep this truck after it was finished... I'd find a 350 TBI
