1990 2500 AC COMPRESSOR
I NEED A NEW COMPRESSOR FOR MY CHEVY, JUST ONE QUESTION WHEN I REMOVE THE OLD ONE HOW MUCH OF THE R12 WILL ESCAPE, DOES ANYONE HAVE A IDEA , OR IS THERE A WAY TO REMOVE THE COMPRESSOR WITH NO LOSS OF R12?

When you remove the compressor im preety sure you will lose all the feron. But when you buy the new one its more then likely going to be the new 134a feron so you can buy that at the store. You want to switch anyways because unless you have r-12 thats the only way you can recharge an r12 system. You cant go and buy r12 anymore. Last i saw a 30pound bottle of r-12 was $1000 if you could find it. Hope this helps.

nah they still sell r12, granted yes it is more expensive but you still can buy it. not sure how many pound are in the system but you loose it all when you pull off the compressor. when ever you hook up the new one youll have to evacuate the system before charging it up otherwise it wont fill and work properly.
