1993 Chevy Oil Pump Change. Help!
I have a 1993 Chevy Silverado 1500 and sometimes when I try to start it just makes a clicking noise and it sounds like it's low, not high. When I'm idle my oil pressure it low and when I'm putting it under load it goes up.
I'm assuming I need to change my oil pump before I spin a bearing.
Could anyone describe to me what size oil pump I need and how to change it?
Thank you.

oil pumps are not an easy thing to do if you have never done one..................that being said you first have to remove the oil pan which if you have a 4x4 then it will be really hard.....I have done it on my 2wd in about 3 hrs....it sounds like the preassure valve is bad in the pump....the pumps are fairly cheap...about 38.00....I would go with a stock replacement.....sometimes you will run into a problem with a High volume pump keeping the lower end too dry...the hardest part is realigning the oil pump drive shaft with the distributor......if you need more info PM me

What psi are you idling at? WOT? Mine will idle about 20 or less. When the oil starts losing its viscosity the pressure will drop a little. This happens when it is hot outside and the oil temp goes up. But nowadays the oil they make is made to withstand higher temps than say bout 20 years ago. So I would rule out that first. How many miles is on that oil change interval??
