When I bought it, I noticed....that the drivers side speakers do not work...not even a peep. Other ones work fine.

AM/FM/Cassette. Does anyone know if its common or anything?

 

First thing is make sure your settings on your radio are good. Then I would take one of the speakers off and use a voltmeter to check for current from the wires. Or you could take the radio out and do that to the wires coming out the back.

 

Ah ok. I'll try that this afternoon. I've never seen one with a blown channel (which is kind of what this points to)

That era GM truck is known for the amplifier under the dash going bad causing your situation. If all else checks out thats your culprit. They are getting hard to find and for what they bring your better off just putting an aftermarket stereo. At least then you can have a CD player too.
