Default 1998 K1500 CB Radio

I was just wondering if anyone has any suggestions or helpful hints toas where or how I should mount my Cobra 29 LTD classic Cb radio in my 1998 Chevy Silverado K1500 extended cab pick uptruck. Any hints, suggestions, or comments would be helpful! Thanks

I have my cobra next to the power outlets and I have it mounted to the under dash. I just ran the power off one of the power outlets and chose not to hard wire it in. I have an magnetic antenna that I put at the back of the cab in the center. Other than that, I have mounted other friends antenna's in the stake pockets of the bed and ran the wire under the cab where there was a hole drilled and put a rubber grommet in to keep the water out. It is really up to you what you want to do with it, and where you want to mount it.

I have a Uniden PC78LTD. I'm not sure if your 98 has the same dash as my 01 or not. I had a section of plastic insert about 1 foot square (give or take) under the power outlets. I took that insert out, and used existing holes and bolts to attach the CB bracket. The Uniden and Cobra are about the same size so if you have the same or similar dash setup it, the radio will fill the space from the insert nicely. As far as the antenna, I replaced the factory radio antenna with a 3 foot firestick and picked up a signal splitter (which was VERY VERY hard to find) to run both my am/fm radio and the CB from the same antenna.

If I had it to do again, I would probably mount dual antennas of the front of the bed. I think I cold fit a bracket in between the bed and the cab, and I like the look of dual antennas. Let us know how you make out.

The 2000 and up don't have the same dash as the 98's. I have also installed a cobra on one of the 2001's and it was a sinch, just like you said. But the 98's don't have a removable piece that would work like that.

I probably won't help much but i've got an 85' Silverado and i put mine up on the celing of the cab... pulled my trim out and ran my wire to the back of the cab then under the seat to a hole that we punched out under the seat then drilled through the bed and ran it up to my 4' whip... i supplied the power to it through my fuse box under my dash which yours is probably under the hood of your truck though... but i'm sure if you want it hooked up bad enough you'll find a way... good luck!

I have my CB mount bolted to the ash tray under the dash with a big magnet mount antenna base with a 5' whip sittin on the roof.I'll get a pic up sometime.I just ran the antenna wire under the dash and tucked it behind the door seal and up over the roof on the pass side cause I'm lazy lol
