Default 1998 Silverado light problem

Son has a 98 4 X 4 and he has a problem with the lights. Left rear turn signal/brake light doesn't work. Emergency flashers don't work. Other 3 turn signals work but right rear flashes really fast. Bulbs are all good. He checked them by interchanging with others that work. Can someone please tell me what I need to look for? Thanks.

Ok, I'll start there. Got to get it fixed so he can get state inspection.

most likely its the socket...a test lite would help to make sure power is getting to the socket

He replaced the socket right off the bat. He told me the old wiring had a spot that looked burned. I haven't seen the truck yet. He bought it last week. He's a good kid. Trys to fix stuff his self before he calls me as I'm an old fart.

i would invest in a power probe or volt meter and trace the wires it could be a bad ground or a fuse

Got both and intend to carry them with me. Went by Chevy dealer today and talked to the service manager. He let me look in one of the books and I made copies of three pages but he wouldn't let me copy the page that tells the location of the connectors I'm supposed to check for voltage. I know one is somewhere on the steering column. Bless their hearts. I'll let everyone know sometime Sunday when I get back what I find. Thanks everyone for your help.

10 Minute repair. Found a "T" connector in the crossover line. This "T" is for trailer brakes. The "T" is bad. Removed the "T" hooked the two connectors together and the problem was solved. Thanks for all of you help and advice. My son will have to purchase a new T when he needs to pull his boat to some other lake besides the one I live on.

You'all have a great forum here. I thank you again for your help.
