2000 GMC Air Conditioning problem
Hi all, hoping someone can help me out here.
I have a 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 with the 5.3 V8 with about 135Kmiles on it. Occasionally I have heard a high pitch screech coming from under the hood, it lasts only a second or two and is very random.
Recently the screech has become much more frequent, even predictable, mostly under acceleration, and occurs every 15 to 20 seconnds at highway speeds, and the duration of the screech is sometimes as long as 5 seconds now..
All I have determined at this point is that when the screech starts, if I immediately turn off the air conditioner with the button on the HVAC panel, the screech immediately stops.
This leads me to believe it is either a belt issue or my compressor is going to go out on me.
Anyone have any experience with this?
Thanks in advance.
