In addition to this question I have a new situation.

I have the opportunity to take over my parents 2003 Chevy Tahoe 2wd with 130,000 miles on it. I am hesitant as although this has been driven by my mom who is very easy with her cars. It has been in a front in wreck, but repaired. Also the transmission was over-hauled a year ago.

These are similar body types. But one is a truck and one is not.

What would ya'll do?

Depends on how bad the accident was. A minor bump wouldn't do anything that would scare me away. My wife drives a 2002 Yukon that was rear ended enough for State Farm to total it...

...I bought it like that REALLY cheap. I took it to a body shop and they fixed it for $800 with a brand new OEM bumper. The hitch took the majority of the impact and I was a little leary about installing another (I was afraid it would never line up) It bolted up like the truck was never wrecked. We have had the truck for over a year and it has been a fantastic vehicle. So don't let a little bump scare you.

Thanks for the reply.... Is there anything in particular that I should look at on this Tahoe that would help me decide whether or not to go with it? Are there typical problems with this model year Tahoe? Transmission, Engine or others? What would I need to look out for in the future if I went with the Tahoe?

They are fantastic trucks just like the 1500HD with the 6.0. The 6.0 is basically the same motor as the 6.0 as far as longevity. One of my good friends is a GM master tech of about 20 plus years and he says that the 4.8. 5.3 6.0 is the best motors that GM has out out to date. That says a lot b/c the old 350 has been really proved itself. He sees them regularly with 250,000 or more miles still running strong. There is a thread that I started a while back that lists Common Chevy & GMC issues...not all will pertain to the newer motors, but give it a read and you will see what others have had to do to theirs.
