2002' Silverado Brake Problem
Hey guys. I am currently looking at a 2002' Chevy Silverado, 2WD, V6, Extended Cab with 71K miles on it. I went to take it for a ride the other day and before I can even leave the parking lot, I noticed the ABS activation at really low speeds with a pulasting to the pedal under 10 miles per hour.. After a few miles I could get the truck to do it ALMOST every time I hit the brakes at low speeds. I went to a parking lot and it was doing it every single time.
I got home and did some research on this subject both online and calling a few dealers nd I really cant find an outcome on how people are fixing this. The owner did go and get the recall done March 2006, which only included cleaning and re-lubing the hub by the speed sensor, as per the recall.
My question is, before I purshase this truck, the owner said he will fix the problem but I want to make sure that the problem is FIXED completely and not 1/2 way.
I did read in another forum that if you replace the speed sensor you have to replace the entier hub because you will never get the sensor adjusted properly. Purchasing the entire hub isnt a big deal, but I want to know that this is the problem.
Thanks for any help guys.

RE: 2002' Silverado Brake Problem
Why not just find a truck that doesn't have any problems? The one thing I've realized when vehicle shopping is to be patient and look around every where real well. You may find something much better with no problems at all for a better price.

Anyone else know about this problem ? It seems to be an ABS problem, activating at low speeds.
Ive read you CANT just replace the sensor, you need to replace the entire hud/bearing assembely ??

Yea, well the owner of the vehicle is offering to fix the problem before I purchase the truck. That was the point to comeing on here and finding out the seriousness of the problem.
If the problem gets fixed, the truck is perfect. It seems like this is a VERY comman problem on these trucks, so who knows if the next truck I look at, will not have the same problem a year down the road.

That is the gamble with used trucks, if you trust this guy and you think thatthe truckhasn't been beat up, then I would say stick with him. If you go to a used car lot, they usually don't tell you what kind of person had the vehicle befor and what kind of shape it was in when they got it! they just want to show you what they have NOW. I have the same problem with my truck with the ABS. I am currently driving it without the ABS and will until I get the money and time to get it scanned to findout witch front hub needs to be cleaned/replaced. I have already replace the speed/abs sensor for the rear. So I know it is up front or in the computor/module. Good luck!
