Went thru the car wash with my 2003 pickupand as the fellow tried to turn the mirrors back it snapped and now is flopping around on the turning stud. Same thing happened to the passenger side mirror last winter. I put a drywall screw in to secure it from flopping around.

Anyone know of a GM fix for this, or do I have to buy the whole mirror. How can I prevent this from happening to my wife's truck which has the same mirros on 2002 model full size pickup?

 

need to replace the whole unit. do these have hinges usually theu have hinges that fold them in towards the door glass.

 

They swivle in out of the way when you go into the car wash or hit something. Both sides have now snapped and just sit on the swivle. The passenger side happened last winter and I just took a drywall screw and drilled the top base and drove it into the bottom base, so now it won't swivle but doesn't rattle around on the base.

Somebody told me that GM had problems with this and they had a kit to fix it. Anybody know about it??

If you have a swivle mirror, better squirt some wd-40 inside the swivle base and lubricat that thing or this is going to happen to you too.

 

no such fix I've heard of...

we sell some aftermarket "look-alike" mirrors pretty cheap,and they look identical to Gm's....shop around

 

My buddy has a 2000 GMC and the same thing happened to him. He got some putty-type **** and he stuck it in there and it hardened like stone and fixed it. I'lll ask him what it's called and get back to you.

 

what like that liquid magnum stuff?
