Default 2003 Silverado Electrical Gremlins. Please Help!

Hi all I am new to the forum but have loved and owned a chevrolet pickup all my life! Hopefully someone has had the same problem I am having and has a solution.

I own a 2003 2500hd 6.0L Crew Cab LT. A couple of days ago I started my truck to go to work, put it in drive and the dashed chimed that my right rear door was open. I got out unlocked the door manually and shut it (it has pwr locks and ever since i got it when I unlock the vehicle it would NEVER unlock the rear doors, I have screwed with the child locks in the door jamb and still no luck with the unlocking situation, so the rear doors always have to be unlocked manually). Same notification came on the dash. Now every time I start it and shift into gear the same right rear door notification chimes in. This also means that every courtesy and interior light stays on as I drive down the road, EXTREMELY ANNOYING. I have since stripped the right rear panel, cleaned the electrical contacts for the door latch ***'y and reassembled it. SAME NOTIFICATION! I have not tested the door latch box that the wires plug into with a multi-meter because I don't know how. I have also disconnected the battery in hopes of something clearing in the computer (not even sure that would do anything)There is a 3 prong connector on the top of the box and and 4 prong on the bottom I believe. Any help on the unlocking, and the dash notification would be greatly appreciated.

I may be completly off base but, Dose your truck have a Driver Information Center? My 05 Z71 has a mulitude of options when I press the different buttons on the steering wheel. One of which allows me to set front and or all doors to lock when shifting into drive/reverse. I' don't mes with the different options much at all but thought you might check yours before doing anything else.

You are exactly right it does have the driver info center on the dash. However, the rear doors lock just fine, the problem is unlocking them (not manually of course) and the fact that the driver info center says that the right rear door is ajar when shifting into gear. This is telling something somewhere in the vehicle that the door is open and the interior lights should be on. Frustrating...

You might want to check with the dealer and see if your body control module needs to be relearned. My wife's 2003 Tahoe was doing all kind of weird things with the memory seats, radio stations, and locking and unlocking automatically and it ended up being the BCM.
