2004 Sierra 1500 Tranny Problem
Well, yet another problem with my Sierra. I have barely reach 31,000 miles and this thing goes into the dealership every few months. My transmission is now having two problems.
1) Occassionally (4 times in two months) when I leave a stop sign very slowly, the truck will not go forward and the engine revs up slowly (like it is still in second gear), and then pops and the truck moves normally.
2) At 40 mph, I push down half way on the accelerator and the truck downshifts. However, the downshift bobbles into gear and then when I release the throttle, it bobbles back into gear. This doesn't happen all the time but today was repeatable for a few miles.
Any ideas on the tranny? This goes along with the replaced dash, new U-joints, new mirrors, bad oxygen sensor, steering linkage kit, bad door lock solenoid, ABS light went crazy, and a few things I probably forgot.

Hey man, sorry you are having alot of issues. Take it to the dealer and hold documents on everything as they have to fix it after warantee even if out, as long as documented. You may have gotten a bad truck though, so before spending any money you may need to try thr lemon law as you have had alot of issues. But try the local dealer first. They will kiss your *** to kep business.

Thanks, I am planning on dropping it off this week. I heard of a few people getting a new flash of software fixing some tranny oddities and I am hoping for that. Even though it is a warranty queen, it goes through the deepest snow like nothing I ever drove before. It is a 4x4 flareside with 5.3L and really is a machine in the snow. I really like it and can care less about the little stuff but the drivetrain needs to be solid for at least 150,000 miles.

I too hate to hear you having all these problems. I agree with smoke that you may have gotten a lemon. If problems persist, I would certainly consider lemon lawing that truck. Here is an excellent website where you can get more information about lemon laws in your state. I wish you the best of luck and as long as it is under warranty, I would let the dealer take care of every little problem.

Well, I got my truck back today. GM reprogrammed the PCM and relaced the Valve body. There was a code generated because the torque converter wasn't locking up properly. Anyways, it could be my imagination but it hasn't shifted this well since I purchased it. I will test it more tomorrow but maybe I have all the kinks worked out of the truck.
Thanks,
Thanks,

They didn't tell me the code. I would have checked it myself but I didn't realize that codes can be generated without illuminating the check engine light. Well, after all of these issues my truck is hopefully ready to give me reliable service for the next 100,000 miles.
1) Replacedinstrument clusterbecause it would randomly display 120 mph
2) Replaced Oxygen Sensor because it would stumble and die at stop lights
3) Replaced U Joint becuase it would bind and pop after stopping
4) Replaced Mirror becuase it was electricaly defective
5) Replaced Transmission Valve Body because of 3-4 shifting problems
6) Drivers Side Door Solenoid doesn't work below freezing
7) ABS sensor occassionally goes crazy with dash lights but is not repeatable
8) Reprogrammed PCM because of2-1 shift problems
* My salesman said this would be much more reliable then my Ford Explorer which I traded in. The Ford only went in for warranty work once in 60,000 miles and my GM has been in at least 7 times. Don't get me wrong, this is one cool truck.
