Just a plain truck is fine..my truck is an 05 and came with a rubber floor and manual windows and locks. I liked it that way. Just wipe the mud out after a long day of work if needed, not having to shampoo the rug, etc. Just recently I bought the silverado power window kit from A1 electric for around 250 and put it in myself in a few hours. they make the lock kit too. so if its something you'd like to do its very simple. as far as the remote goes..just read the directions very carefully. I only have removed one from my truck and from what I remember there was really only one or two wires tied into the factory harness so it cannot be that difficult to install. I'm sure someone will chime in who has put in the remote starts and be more of a help.

Well I haven't installed a remote start before, but I just wanted to chime in and say that I also have a basic pickup, and I like it. Rubber floors, bench seat, no factory A/C, not even a tachometer!

I've installed a few aftermarket remote starts but not that particular brand and model. Like stated earlier, read the instructions entirely. Since you don't have power locks, you can skip the instructions for wiring the door locks to the module.

You will need a wiring diagram for your truck. The manufacturer of your model doesn't provide one but you can get one for free from this site:

Vehicle wiring diagrams

You probably need a by-pass module for the Passlock 2 anti-theft system. After installing one of these, the security relearn procedure will need to be accomplished so you can start the truck. Passlock 2 for GM prevents someone from hot-wiring your car, which is what you are doing by installing a remote start basically.

Depending on the remote start instructions, you may also need a relay or two.

Good luck and take your time to get it right.
