Default 2005 Sierra front end shake

I have a 2005 1500 Sierra with about two months left on a factory warranty. I bought the truck in Jan. Now the problem: At times it gets a bad shake in the front end. When it starts I have to get off the hwy and come to a complete stop to get rid of it. After a stop I’m good to go. It happens on the hwy. I drove from Ohio to Florida and it only happed about 4 times. I’ve taken it to 2 different dealers and they say everything’s find, it doesn’t happen when they drive it. Anyone else have this problem and know the cure? Thanks Rick

I have the same problem, So let me fill you in on what I have found out. This is called the Death Wobble. It can be caused by several different components in the front suspension being loose. I have a 95 4x4 with a six inch lift. I decided one day to loosen the torsion bolts to bring the front end down a bit cause my tires were starting to bow in. After I loosend them I test drove it and the front end had a uncontrollable wobble. I tightend them back and it went away. I was told that my ball joints found a wear spot since being torsioned up and when I loosened the torsion it created a gap. So maybe tighten the torsion bar bolts a bit, I bet it goes away...
Hope this helps.

I took it to an independent auto mechanic who said all four tires were out of balance and he also thought the shocks were bad. He suggested taking it back to the dealer and try to get them to cover the shocks under warranty since I only have 30k miles on the truck. He said the shocks were very expensive, like over $200 or $300 each. Anyone know this to be true? Rick
