Trying to turn off this aggravating dinging (chime) that you hear when you open the door with the key in ignition, and heaven forbid the seat belt reminder.I have had all I can stand and on the verge of trading for any kind of truck without that awful dinging.Owners manual says it has a high and low setting but not a off setting.Anyone had any expierence with this or know of a way around this .Checked with the techs at the dealership that I bought it from and they laughed and said sorry. It may not bother some people but it annoys the hell outta me. I am at wits end with this. Thanks

i think its built into the radio. there is no way to turn it off. you can replace the factory radio with an aftermarket and not get the $100 piece that retains the door chimes, but you woul also loose onstar and the retained accessory power.

What I did on my 92 is I disconnected the seat belt sensor under the seat and I put a peice of tape over the door sensor so it never knows when the door is open or not. The other thing I have gotten in the habit of doing about it on my moms 06 is I pull the key out a fraction of an inch but leave it in the ignition... It takes care of the dinging
