2006 rear differental problems
I took off my pumpkin cover and found that my clutch needs to be replaced, in short I'm looking for information on how to take the axel off (i couldnt find the bolts???) and anything else you would like to share about this process. Also if anyone knows of a website where i can get a beakdown diagram of the rear end (for free please) i would be very greatful. I'm not sure on the exact name of my rear end so I was plannign on taking my Vin # to the chevy dealer so they could tell me unless there is another way of finding out.
Thank you

RE: 2006 rear differental problems
Chances are that you have the 10 bolt rear end, with the semi-floating rear axles. If so, remove the differential cover. Turn the differential in the housing until you can see the bolt head that holds the spider gear shaft in. remove this bolt. Be careful as they are easy to break. After the bolt removal, turn the differential enough to get the shaft to slide out of the carrier housing. After the shaft is removed push the axle shafts in and remove the "C" clips from the ends of the axle shafts. You now can remove the axle shafts. Be careful ont to damage the axle seals.
Hope this helps.
