Default 2009 Silverado - Pro's & Con's

I am considering trading in my 2002 Silverado LS Z71 4X4 5.3 w/ 115,000

For a 2009 Silverado LT - 2WD 5.3 w/ 17000

I know giving up 4X4 is big, but in 3 years only used it twice.

What are some things to think about?
Performance?
Is my high mileage a problem?
Things to think about with my high mileage?

I want your opinions, thoughts, tell me like it is.

Here is my current truck

AND

Here is the truck I'm lookin at

I want to hear what yawl have to say.

115k is nothing if its been a well treated and well maintained 115... but the new trucks are so nice... my dad's had an 08 and now has a 10 and they ride so nice, i personally love the interior, i could go on and on...

at your mileage, its time for flushing and other maintenance items if you haven't already taken care of it. trans flush, its actually getting close to time for your second coolant flush based on dex-cool's shelf life, front end parts are probably starting to wear, etc etc. depends on what kind of shape your truck's in really.

I am planning on flushing my trans, new filter, corvette servo and 4th gear servo.

Shocks all new.

I am gettin alignment, I think ball joints are worn.

Hadnt thought about coolant.

So with 115,00 - What else shoulf I think about

Go on and on and on if you like

plugs and wires... brake flush wouldn't be a bad idea but im on the fence about those really, having driven several vehicles over the service interval with no issues. your knock sensors probably aren't going to last much longer if you haven't already had to replace them, at which point you'll also need a new intake gasket, and on my 02 the ac belt was about to come all to pieces when i blew the motor in september-ish.

Default Ok

I have replaced all the brakes, and flushed alot of fluid thru.

I have a new serpentine belt.

Knock sensor, Does it screw on?

Intake gasket - does it have to be done with sensor OR is it just about time to replace the gasket?

With only 115k you should have a lot of life left in your old truck but the '09 is really nice. I have one, very similar to the one you're considering, and I wouldn't change a thing. It looks great, rides great and so far, trouble free (only 9500 miles). I think you'll like the four doors better than the extended cab. Lots of room back there. You probably won't go wrong whichever choice you make. Good luck.

you have to take the intake off to get to the sensors, but yeah once you get to them they just screw in. and since you'll already have the intake off you might as well replace the gasket, since you're supposed to anyway.

Default Front Bumper

The front bumper ends on the 09 Silverado look like a wort. The front of a GMC looks much better. -- Not a big deal, just my opinion. - Good luck with whatever you decide.
