2500HD 8.1 Liter burning oil
#11
ok guys, found the fix...its the piston rings. they have a new and improved ring that eliminates the oil burning. being that the cost to replace the rings on an engine that runs perfectly good is pretty high, its not even worth doing unless you plan to do a full rebuild anyway.

Yep, just wait and pull it out when it gets really bad and starts to gum up the heads. That is when I would do it.
Or you can swap with me, and you can have a 5.7L! I am sure it wouldn't be that hard to swap the engine/tranny combos. Just a week for both trucks to be down, and then I have the 8.1L that smokes!

hahaha, i bet you would like that wouldnt you, haha. i think i will hold on to my baby just a lil while longer. nice try though, you almost had me. and oh yeah, my truck doesnt smoke quite yet. when i got it smogged, the guy running the test did it three times because he couldnt believe a 7 yr old truck w/ that big of motor ran as clean as it does.
