Default 4.8

i have a 1999 with a 4.8 in it. i kind of like it because it get alot better mileage that a 5.3 but i dont like it bc it has no were near the power a 5.3 has got. just wonderin if anyone else has these and thinks the same way. and if there any modes i can do to it to get it 2 run with a 5.3? i got a cold air intake, flowmaster, and a hypertec programmer.

Outside of forced induction or internal changes the only way to go faster would be to have your PCM tuned, even with the hypertech you are still fighting the factory torque management. Do you have problems spinning your tires or notice you take off faster when you work into the throttle rather than just flooring it? This is torque management, it retards the timing to save the drive train (GM from having to spend money on warranty work), this along with programming for the specific mods you have will give you much better performance than the hypertech.[/align]

I can't spin them on my truck either from a dead stop, unless water or loose ground on road. But I can spin them at @ 25mph a little if I floor it. Have not tried to power brake it though.

How do you get around the torque management? Will the diablo programmer do it?

No, you have to have a reprogram. Hemikiller can help you out.
