6.0 power and diablo tuner
Hi, just got my diablo tuner in and installed it. I'm only marginally impressed with the outcome. Granted I'm in a 2500 4x4 crew but still I expected more.... I changed the shift firmness and a little bit of the upshift speeds but I don't really see a difference in power. Am I working with the wrong tuner or what??
I am convinced I need to go back to a lighter truck, which I don't want, or move up to the diesel, which I don't want to pay for,,,,,on the front end $8k nor the back end $350/gal......
any help out there???
thanks
paul

RE: 6.0 power and diablo tuner
I am new to the Silverado's but the information I have about Diable tuners should carry over between makes and models. My roommate had a Lightning and Diablo tuner for it. From being around his Lightning and also being around Diable tuners for the past year or so, you are only going to get marginal gains with the stock tune that is installed from the factory. To get a true custom tune with the Diablo tuner you need to find a dyno shop in your area that is a liscensed Diablo tuner. They will be able to build a custom tune and install it on the tuner and also run it on the dyno to tweak things. You will get the most power this way and from what I have gathered it will be more than a mail order tune will give you. I am not sure where you live, but I live in Virginia Beach, VA. There is a shop here that will do the custom tune and dial everything in on the dyno for about $200. You can get on the Diablo website and they have a link to search for authorized dealers and you can find one close to you. Hope this helps.

RE: 6.0 power and diablo tuner
All the programmers' basic "cookie cutter" performance tunes suck. No matter what brand it is and what make/model your vehicle is. The thing you have to do is experiment. Go onto Diablosports wedsite into the forum. There are people there that have gotten increased mpg and hp from 87 octane by screwing with the settings. If you buy the PC interface kit ( or go to radioshcak and buy a power plug and a PC cable ) you can log your engine data and change a few parameters, try it out, log it agian, change a few.....it sucks but its basically "do-it-yourself" tuning. You can also have Diablosports look at you logs and change the parameters for what you want. Last but not least you can go to a performance shop and have it done via the Predator.
TIP: Go onto the forum and ask about Torque management settings and fuel trims. From what I understand those two things alone make a noticable difference.
