Has anyone heard a 8.1L coming with any other transmission than an allision looking at a 2001 2500 4wd excab thanks

 

I have heard of, but not personally seen people talking about some standard transmission equipped 8.1's. All of the automatics I have seen have been allison equipped though.

It should say allison on the housing...

 

8.1's i believe were available in certain year 2500 suburbans, not sure which years or how long they were made, but i believe they came with the 4l80.

as far as i know, the 2500 and 3500hd trucks with the 8.1 came with the allison
