Default 93 Chevy having warm start issues

Hi everyone,

I'm needing some help with my 93 chevy 1500. Just recently it's been sputtering and acting like it's going to die when first started. Then if I shut it off it will turn over but will not start until later that day or even the next day. I've changed the TPS, EGR, PCV, Fuel Filter, plugs and wires, and cap and rotor. I'm now leaning towards the fuel pump. Any other suggestions? Am I heading in the right direction?

I would have the fuel pressure checked first, but I think you are going in the right direction.

Thanks for the info guys. I cam acrossed something else. While trying to restart the truck I noticed that I don't hear the fuel pump. I hear it when I first start it up. But, not the second time.

That could mean you have a failing fuel pump relay

Well, I've changed the Ignition module and the fuel pump relay and I'm getting the same results. Except for now when I am able to start it up it sputters for a minute or 2 then it sounds great until it warms up. Then back to sputtering. When I shut if off, I can't get it started until later that day or the following day. Going to change the fuel pump next. Any other suggestions? What brand? Carter, Delphi, or Airtex?

You try to put a fuel pressure gauge on it and see what psi it puts out when it sputters?

I hardly ever see people post the fact that they fixed their problems. So, here is what fixed mine. Turns out as I was having a buddy run a diagnostic test on the truck the fuel pump died. I put a new one in and it was still missing a little bit, check the timing and the timing was off. fixed that and it is back to running strong. Thanks for all your advice guys!

Thanks for posting your results and I am glad you got it fixed! According to your first post you knew it was the fuel pump all along. Good call!
