Default 95 2500 Starting issues

Just purchased the truck a few days ago so hello everyone!!
I have a small issue with my 95 C 2500. Sometimes to start the truck I need to have my foot on the brake and steering wheel turned, then it fires right up. Is this "normal" or should I be looking for the actual problem so it can be fixed??? Sorry if this has been answered, first truck in 15 years, just needed something for winter so i can keep my 2012 Mustang in the garage!

Thanks!

You do not need to have your foot on the brake nor have the steering wheel turned to start it. Try moving the gear shifter (assuming it's an automatic) and see if that makes a difference. Try putting it in N.

The issue was the actual physical turning of the ignition cylinder. It ended up being a worn key not causing the switch itself to turn. Thanks!
