97 4X4 STEERING IS STICKING!
Hello All, When Im in acurve or exit ramp I could take may hands off the wheel and it would stay in that position. It does not rebound or try to ruturn back to straight like normal. Has anyone ever heard of this problem? Could it be the steering sector (gearbox)? Thanks

could be the gear box, could be the evo sensor, could be the pump, could be a front end or tire problem.....how does it do on straight aways????? does it pull at all?

Thanks, It does fine on a straight away and does not pull. It'snot a real big deal, but I know somethings not right with it. This all started after putting new tie rods, pitman arm and idler arm on my truck. When I put the pitman arm back on, I was off a notch. I lost my mark. Steering wheel was almost upside down when I got it all back together. I said the heck with it and just drove it to the tire shop. They got everything aligned, but now I have this problem.

When I replaced my pitman arm the first time (Replaced like 4 times(Bigger tires with offset wheels)!) it was off a bit because it was an aftermarket one. When I got it alligned it was fine. I ahve never heard of the tie rod endsor the pitman arm causing this type ofproblem. If anything Iwould say jack up the forntend and move all of the partsaround, that should helpyoufigureout where it is binding or stiff.
If I had to guess though, I would say it is a steering nuckle or steering box. That is saying ifeverythingwas lubed within the last monthor so. If those both checkout and all is good when you jack it up and inspect it, than I would go to the tires. If they are lowthey may want to not go back to center depending on the offset of yourwheels. If all is stock, then you need to go back to that allignment shop and have them look at it.
Now you have a direction.
Good luck with the hunt!
