Question 98 GMC Sierra distribution/ignition system??

just wondering if anyone could answer a question for me.. I would like to put the MSD 5A ignition on my truck.. Im pretty sure I dont have High Energy Ignition (HEI) (i know GM started them in the mid 70's and used through the 80's, but want to make sure I am correct) but Im not sure if I have a magnetic pickup distributor, would you be able to let me know if I do or not, or at least maybe point me in the correct direction to finding out
(1998 GMC Sierra 1500 4.3L V6 2WD) thanks

You do not have an HEI GM actually calls your set up an EDI (Enhanced Distributor Iginition) system. The HEI stopped with the older TBI (Throttle Body Injected) motors that had the OBD1 system.
