Default air box mod...

I cut a slit open in my airbox like MrLM7 suggested and I have to say I am amazed. It's suprising what you can do to cars now a days to make them better without even spending any money!

Sure beats paying out the nose for an intake....Huh? It also looks stock, so you can go with the sleeper look....

Just wait until you do the other mods... The throttle body bypass is killer...

DANG! My gas mileage has gone up quite a bit. Atleast 2 mpg as crazy as that sounds.

This is kind of dumb but what do you mean you cut a slit in the box? Did u just cut a hole in the top or the front? Also what is the "throttle body bypass?"

If you look at the front of the airbox(the side facing the headlight) there is a flat/smooth part just below where the air filter sits. I took a hack saw and just cut a slit about 1inch wide all the way across the side (BELOW THE AIR FILTER AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE). This is a great free mod that I highly recommend and only took me about 15 minutes... though mine was a little bit of a quick jerry rig deal.

As for the throttle body bypass I think this is where you remove the coolant lines going to and from the throttle body which aid in cold starts I think. Haven't done this. Need to look into it though.

I think I will cut the air box on my truck tomorrow. I wonder if the bypass will make it harder to start here in Alberta. It gets pretty friggin cold some days and I don't need it not starting for me. Ya I found the "ultimate freeby list on page 8 or 9"

The throttle body bypass keeps you from heating the air coming into the intake. As far as being in Alberta, you may have some issues when the temp drops to single digits and lower. It is easy to undo for the winter though if needed.
