Default Air induction

Now I have read teh REDNECK RAM AIR set up idea and me and my best friend are in the [process of doing this to his truck, but only a little at a time. Reason being because of the enviromental changes... aka the rain, the dust were he resides etc... So my next question is this... Is the modular tube (Air Raid Jr kit) better than a K&N and the stock ducting or is it better to go ahead and purchase a K&N cold air induction kit instead?

Purchase the modular intake tube from Airaid and buy a drop-in K&N u should the get the same results as buying the whole kit but much cheaper...

I have the airaid jr. and i really like it. It takes the best of both worlds and puts them into one. You still keep the sealed box that comes stock and are able to replace the stock tube for one that is less restrictive. I think the kit that you can buy from airaid is going to be cheaper then buying the tube and a K&N filter. And they are the same thing. I got mine from summit racing for a great price i just cant remember what it cost me. Good luck!

I meant the tube and drop-in K&N would be cheaper than the whole K&N kit but about the same results...I'm thinkin it would be around $160 for that I dnt kno how much the Airaid Jr would be...BUT if u want to hear the intake sucking noise go with the K&N kit.

I did the redneck ram air mod w/ a K&N drop in air filter and I was amazed at the improvements. Course after I got exhaust I lost some bottom end but was able to gain some mid range power with a Trans Dapt throttle body spacer. I've thought about getting the Airaid Tubular intake but I can't see it improving much. Really your just going to make the intake more audible I think.

yeah i added the modular intake tube and cut the bottom of my airbox off and it makes the sucking noise, and i only paid 170... i can't see how a cold air intake would be any better

I see what you mean my bad. Ya it would be cheaper then going full intake. Going KandN and tube is about the same price as airaid Jr. Its all in what you like.

I really thank everyone for the input so far. Like I said we are working on the airbox as it goes, but we are only putting so many holes in it at a time. We are thinking about leaving the back side solid as to keep the heat out like the K&N kit does and many others.
1 question though. Someone said that they lost some bottom end after they installed teh exhaust... how noticeable was the loss?
