ASP Vs Motoblue
Okay I have now purchased a 2 piece set of Motoblue underdrive pulleys. I never heard of them until recently. I can not figure out if they are the same brand as ASPunderanother brand name. My research has lead me to a state of confusion. So here are a few questions. Any responces will be appreciated.Right now this set is going on my father's Chevy Avalanche... before i decide if I want a set on my truck. Can we say Experiment...
1. Are they from the same company?
2. Are underdrive pulleys worth a dam?
3. Has anyone ran a set on their 5.3 motors? I had a 3 piece set on my 1990 Chevy with a 5.7.

RE: ASP Vs Motoblue
Well the Motoblue 2 piece underdrive pulley set arrived today. I will put it on later after I do some checking. The funny thing is I expected it to be much lighter. I guess I am comparing this1 to the 1 I had on my 1990 modelChevy truck with a 5.7.
Damn Yankee any idea how heavy theASP Underdrive pulleyyou are running weighs? Just a comparison between the 2 to futrther my information gathering.

RE: ASP Vs Motoblue
Not sure what they weigh. Is more a matter of less rotational mass for the engine to turn that will net any performance benefits. Weight is a factor I suppose but there shouldn't be much of a difference between the two. Not enough to matter anyway.

RE: ASP Vs Motoblue
I only ask, because I thought I read that the ASP was made of aluminum were as the Motoblue is made of steel it seems like. ASP is located down here in Houston, Texas were I am. I guess I could call them up if I want some more info... I measured the stock pulley and the underdrive is only an inch less in diameter...shocking I thought it would be a smaller diameter...like I said I am remembering the other pulleys I had.

RE: ASP Vs Motoblue
The ASP's are a lot smaller than a stock pulley. Underdrive pulleys come in different percentages of underdrives. Yours might not be as much of an underdrive as the ASP's. And the ASP's are CNC'd out of aluminum - definitely better than a steel one.

This one says it is CNC steel bonded.
According to Summit Racing themeasurements forthe belts that are to be used are the same for bothbrands. Sothey are probably the same just different weights.
This underdrive pulley is going on my father's Avalanche. So I will wait and find an ASP pulley. Right now as I said in the other postI started about the Crane Cams TBS we are checking MPG before we add the pulley. We are trying to get as much powerand possiblyMPG as we can since he drags a Antique car trailer with a 1912 Ford Model T in it. I will keep the information flowing.
Oh are you just running the Crank pulley or are you also running the overdrive alternator puller too?
