thats actually average city mileage for your truck.
have you had the speedo recalibrated for the 285's, if not your mileage calcs are off.

a custom tune can help, but the only thing that truly regulates mpg is how hard you hit the skinny pedal.

If im easy on it, i can squeeze right at 13.8-14 city mmpg out of her. my normal driving i see around 12. the 6.0 will always be a thirsty little B*tch, but she's fun to drive. thats why the ole saturn is usually the daily driver, 30+mpg

i dont think you could justify the cost of the mods for the mpg you get. i did them for performance, and if im easy on it, i get a mpg benefit.

i wouldnt pay the dealer $100 for a speedo recal. if you dont have one, get a custom tune, from someone like blackbear performance. $200 he can recal your speedo and give you more power.

I get about 12mpg regularly. I only get 14 on a long trip crusing at 75 or so. Keep in mind those tires, 285/75 R16, are a lot heavier than the stockers. They will lower your gas milage just because they take more power to turn.

man, i wish i could get 14mpg out of my 8.1, but then again i am knockin on the 500hp door w/ 8" of lift. the thing about it is, once you start to lift and get larger tires, you can just kiss that gas mileage goodbye. just remember there is always someone out there that gets worse mileage than you, and its most likely going to be me, haha.
