Black Bear Performance Custom Tune

Black Bear Performance Custom Tune
I just got my computer installed today from Black Bear Performance and let me say so far I am extremely happy with it. Justin (at Black Bear) answered all my questions and I received the computer 2 days after payment! It installed very easy with no relearn needed. The truck fired right up and ran like never before. The acceleration is smooth and crisp and now I have to be careful not to speed. It gets up to speed WAY faster than before. I have yet to tow with it - which is the main reason I purchased it, but I will keep everyone posted on how it does. I am sure we will tow the boat to the lake next weekend and that will be the true test. I told Justin to keep the truck as comfortable as possible when not in Tow/Haul mode and do most of the mods there, but the truck definitely has a very different feel even when not in Tow/Haul mode. I would highly recommend Black Bear Performance - especially for the $200 I spent. It is the best bang for the buck I have ever spent. When compared to the universal tuners (hypertech, superchip, etc) there is NO comparison! Thanks Justin!!!!

i just got mine yesterday. havent been hard on her yet, but overall the truck is much better. acceleration is very much improved. shifting is still a tad slow but the truck needs some time to learn. the shifting is better than it was though.
Justin's customer service is top notch. answered all my questions without hesitation.

I've heard about the Blackbear tune and it sounds like it would be better than the hypertech I have right now. I just want to know everything that he customizes for the trucks. Does he get rid of or adjust the top speed limiter? Does he tune it for 87, 89, 91, or 93 octane? What if I had it and put different size tires on and needed the speedometer calibrated? I'm still iffy about it but if I can find out everything he does to the computer I'll see about getting it. Right now the power I have is good enough for me but I'll still consider the custom tune.

He will tune it as long as you own the vehicle. So if you put bigger wheels and tires, then send it in and he will recalibrate it. And trust me, those custom tunes are much much better than a handheld Hypertech. Add a corvette servo to shift harder and faster. Saves wear on your clutch packs.

Yeah I am still very pleased with it. The truck tows much more comfortably now and the throttle response is incredible. By far the best bang for the buck out there. I just got a 2nd one in today for my 1500HD Crew Cab (so I must have liked it). I had to do the relearn procedure which took about 45 minutes and was very easy to do (I didn't have to on the Suburban). I am going to have to take it in for a crank relearn also which is $85 here at my local dealer. This happens when the ECM he sends is from a totally different vehicle than yours. In this case it was marked Astro Van. It can be avoided by sending him your ECM, but you will have a few days of down time. My truck still runs fine, but there is a check engine light on for code P1336 which is the crank sensor. Justin at BlackBear warns you about this so it was not a surprise. So I will have 285.00 in the one for the 1500HD truck. Still well worth it and still cheaper than the other handheld tuners. Get one you will like it!!!!!!

yea i spent the $300 and got the cable tune. which is good, cause i found out that it had a ****ty tune on it with 100% TM removed, already programmed in. he also told me that my trans is slipping. so now for the corvette servo to help that out.
i left TM @ 85% removed and told him to work his magic, the truck runs like a bat out of hell now. i was surprised to see how much the 295's affected it, but the truck doesnt notice them now with the tune.
