Blue smoke

RE: Blue smoke
If you want Argon to know you have a problem, you'll need to send him a PM. He seems to have lost interest in most of the topics and I only see him reply in the GMC board any more.
Good luck with it man. In the long run, it might just be time to hunt foranother truck. That's a whole lot easier than stuffing another engine in there that isn't supposed to be in there.

RE: Blue smoke
blueish-white smoke is oil..black is fuel. snow-white is coolant.
i'm assuming its not coolant...you'd notice the consumption pretty quickly.
usually,we just see emsmoke oilon start-up,meaning the valve seals dripped oil on the plugs overnight and ya get a good heart HUFF in the morning...which is usually not really hurting anything.
i take it that this is all the time? how much oil is it using?...how bad would you say it is?...can it kill bicyclists and junebugs?
just what engine is it?...5.7's were much more prone to use oil than a 5.3...
some things to check...
pcv...it starts here..make sure the crankcase can breathe.
gummy...if the oil drain holes up on top of the heads clog and a quart of oil is submerging the rockers, its gonna drip past the valve seals into the chamber..we especially see this after someone did a valve-cover job,and left old gasket pieces inside that clogged the drains.
compression...if its getting past the rings, the compression will be low.
blow-by..idling,pull the oil cap..dipstick...if its choo-chooing out...yeah,its screwed.

RE: Blue smoke
All man im sorry for being a dumnass and not putting 2 and 2 together. I have been low on coolant a few times but 1 time I took it to the dealer and they topped it off then an oil change topped it off. And then I put a bunch in a week or so ago. My oil has looked ok. Head gasket right? How can I tell witch one? Or should I do both?

RE: Blue smoke
If it does have a blown head gasket the best way to find out is a compression test isn't it Argon? Or use that chemical kit that you put some of your coolant in and it changes color if it detects exhaust gases in it. Actually the latter would be easier to do.
Sorry Argon, I thought you had just grown tired of this place. I'm starting to get there myself but it's more because I'm growing tired of my problems with my truck.
