Question Buying my first silverado

Hey, I am buying my first truck and I am purchasing a 2005 Silverado with a reg. cab, 8' bed with 30k miles. I have a few questions:

-What type of problems should I expect/b prepared for?
-I need a toolbox or cap, does anyone have any recommendations?
-Also, do I need a bed liner?
-if so, do I get a roll on or drop in?

Thanks for your help!

Thanks for your help!

Thanks for the welcome.

It's a V6 4x2. I'm using it for commercial. Im a carpenter so I need to fit material along with all my tools while keeping then secure.

-What type of problems should I expect/b prepared for? Just the truck in general? No problem. You may end up buying a Utility trail some day or an inclosed cargo trail. Not an ideal towing engine.

-I need a toolbox or cap, does anyone have any recommendations? Check your local Craigs List or want ads.. Only you'll know what will work for you.. Personally I don't like working out of a truck cap.

-Also, do I need a bed liner? Bedliner is a great investment to protect and prolong the life of you truck box. Helps to prevent your cargo from sliding around. I like the drop in, cause I can take it out to oil spray the truck every year (don't want oil on bed liner) it's hard to get off.

-if so, do I get a roll on or drop in? If you have time, take a serve, ask guys in your home town this question. Most guys like to talk about their trucks. Ask other contractors too.

Thanks for your help!
Hope this has been some help

What is oil spraying? Is this something I'll need to do? I've never heard of it before

also, do you know a website that will give me the actual bed dimensions so I can get the proper size tool box before I have the truck?

Oil Spraying = Under Coating I do it every Fall to protect from road salt.

What kind of a tool box are you looking to buy ? I have a Aluminum diamond plate box.
I found this one did the job for me. I can still put a truck cap on if I want as apposed to the tool boxes that rest on the box sides.

I don't know of a website that will give you the exact measurements of your truck box. But then, tool boxes are usually universal fit
They either fit like mine, for full size or mid size trucks. Or you can get the tool box that rests on the box size rails. Those tool boxes are sized for full size, or the smaller ones for mini and mid sizes trucks.

I'm looking for a diamond plate that rests on the bed rails. Would a 1500 be considered mid size? Sorry but I don't know much about trucks at all.

A 2005 Silverado 1500 is considered a Full size truck
