Default cabin air filters

OK, I bought the new cabin air filters at wal-mart. I cannot figure out how to replace them. I took out the glove box and theres a plastic cover up behind it. I took out the two screws holding that cover in place but it wouldnt come off. It had a piece of foam filter material on it also. am i in the right place? Is there more you have to remove.. the instructions said to remove the hush cover but i have no idea what that is.

You don't have to remove the glove box. The hush cover (if equipped) is under the glove box and covers up the A/C plenum and blower motor. Some of the less equipped trucks don't even have the cover. It is held in with 3 or 4 - 9/32nds screws. Once that is removed there is a small cover with 2 screws in it that the filters go in. What truck do you have?

Yeah they can get nasty. I'm not sure why GM quit using them. I just spent quite a few hours cleaning the evaporator on my 98.
