In my line of work I come across a lot of trucks and have noticed a good number of the 1999 and up Silverado's with the folding center seat/console that rattle like crazy. As long as you don't rest your arm on them they are quiet, but if you touch them they creek and rattle. One of my pet peeves is rattles in my trucks and cars. So today I wanted to see what the deal was with my 2001 Silverado because it was rattling worse than any I have had. I tried stuffing some headliner material in between the plastic on the lid and this did not help, but it did enable me to see that the inner shell of the lid pops out. So I popped it out and made note of everywhere plastic comes in contact with plastic. I had some thin rubber gasket material that had adhesive on one side (peel and stick) and I stuck it everywhere I saw the plastic contacts. I popped it back on and it was about 90% better so I popped it back out and noticed rub markes on the plastic clips that hold it in. I simply took some electrical tape and wrapped a single layer on the male ends of the clips and WALLAH no more creeks or rattles. I will be able to remain sane while I drive my truck now!!!!!

Funny you should mention this because I was just thinking the other day while replacing some burned out dash lights about all the different rattles my '99 has.

I not sure if it was this forum or another I was on once where a member referred to his truck as the "Silverattle".
