Default Changing water pump on 2000 silverado.

I am about to change the water pump on my 2000 silverado. I just bought the maintenance book so I know basically how to do it. My question is does the radiator have to come out to change the water pump or can I just take the fan off. and if so how?

radiator doesnt have to be taken off. rent a tool for the fan or risk your knuckles with channel locks and a crow bar. shouldnt be too difficult

Take the top fan shroud off. Get some mechanic gloves or some kind of gloves cuz breaking the nut to the fan can cause some pain. But the radiator can stay in.

A big adjustable wrench and a rubber mallet usually will break the nut free. Gloves are still highly recommended. Is it me or does it seem like there are getting more and more sharp objects under the hood. That dam fan shroud will cut you like a razor!
