You dont "chip" modern efi engines, you "tune" them by use of a handheld programmer or tunning program.
that said, all handhelds are pretty much junk and dont really do all that much.
Use a professional tuner such as blackbear performance. check out his website for info.
If you want to learn to tune yourself, you can purchase either efi live or hptuners.
Good luck

Tune is all in, only have about 100 miles on it so far, but it is great. Throttle response is considerably better, shift points make more sense, 60% of the TM removed, definately more power. Can't comment on the better mpg's yet as I have been tending to keep my foot all the way down since...
I would definately recommend it, and look forward to seeing the results when I start towing our camper as well.

I have read nothing but positive comments about Justin's Blackbear tunes.
That said I use a Superchips Flashpaq on my 5.3. Why I like the Superchip is that
it has several preset programs that so far have met my needs. It also allows you to run 87 octane gas when you do not need the extra performance. As a daily driver I use the 87 octane setting which changes the timing and the shift points. When I am towing a trailer I use the Tow Tune which again changes timing and shift points but requires 91 octane gas. I have only used the Performance Tune a few times as I see
no need to always burn higher priced 91 octane gas as a daily driver. The programmer
also lets you make personal adjustments ie, tire size, gears, transmission setting etc.
and resetting these setting only take a few minutes, so when I want to pull the trailer it only takes about 3 minutes to reset the program to Tow Tune and or back.
You mentioned you were looking for maybe some additional "hp" & "mpg" tuning your
truck for performance will give you additional "hp' additional "mpg" maybe. The question you have to ask yourself "Do you always want to pay for the higher priced gas as a
daily driver.
Would I buy this programmer again "yes"
Good Luck

Well 87-93 is only about $5-7 per complete fillup, not really extreme. as for a handheld, superchips maybe able to give you 5hp on 87 and maybe 10hp on 93 but it does nothing to address the main performace killer on GM vehicles, which is abuse mode and Torque Management. for the cost, Justin's tune will still be better and a night and day difference.
i had hypertechs before i wised up, they were junked, ive also used superchips and it was junk. the only advantage it has is if you are changing gears or tires out on a regular basis, you wouldnt have to mail your pcm out.
